Ready to prepare for clinical practice as a physical therapist? If you’ve already earned your bachelor’s degree, you can enter our three-year Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. Over nine consecutive semesters, the D’Youville DPT takes you through coursework, clinical fieldwork, and graduate research to prepare you for evidence-informed, compassionate care.

With a curriculum that integrates clinical reasoning, wellness promotion, and culturally responsive care, you’ll be prepared to thrive in diverse settings—from hospitals and rehabilitation centers to schools, sports facilities, and private practices. Thanks to our many clinical partnerships, D’Youville DPT students can choose from more than 600 fieldwork sites.

D’Youville University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).*

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Apply through the Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service (PTCAS). Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis through April, with priority given to those received by December 1. Requirements include:

  • Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
  • A cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 3.00 (on a 4.00 system)
  • Completion of prerequisite courses with a grade of B or better (a maximum of two may be a C or better; minimum prerequisite GPA of 3.00)
  • 60+ hours of work with a vulnerable population
  • Two letters of recommendation addressing leadership and the ability to work with others

Prerequisite Coursework — Math and Natural Sciences

  • Two 3-credit courses in human-based or applied science
  • One course in human anatomy with lab
  • One course in human physiology with lab (or two courses in human anatomy with physiology with labs)
  • Two courses in chemistry with labs
  • Two courses in physics with labs
  • One semester of statistics

Prerequisite Coursework — Social and Behavioral Sciences

  • One course in psychology

Financial aid is available for those who qualify. Scholarships, articulation agreements, and military discounts may also be available for qualifying doctoral students.
