Build your academic profile for medical school or dental school, or prepare for a wide range of research and health industry career paths in just one year with D’Youville’s accelerated Master of Science in Anatomy. This program provides you with an intensive, hands-on study of anatomy through practical experience in cadaver-based dissection and contemporary research techniques in our Human Gross Anatomy Lab.

Graduates are well-prepared for a range of paths: pursuing a professional healthcare or science degree, academic research and instruction, or scientific and managerial roles in health-related industries. This degree can also qualify you to teach anatomy to allied health and nursing students at community colleges.

YOU WILL:

  • Gain hands-on experience in D’Youville’s Human Gross Anatomy Lab
  • Study neurobiology, histology, and comparative and developmental anatomy
  • Complete a research or capstone pathway
  • Serve as a teaching assistant in undergraduate anatomy and physiology labs
  • Prepare to apply (or reapply) to professional healthcare programs

CHOOSE FROM RESEARCH OR CAPSTONE PATHWAYS

Decide how you want your MS in Anatomy to culminate: with a research project or with a dissection-based capstone project. Both options allow you to demonstrate your mastery of course concepts that you present to faculty or classmates.

Students then complete one of two sequences: Research Methods in Anatomy II and Research Seminar, or Advanced Human Dissection and Anatomy Capstone.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Admission is highly competitive. Applications for the master’s program must be submitted and verified through CASPA by the September 1st deadline. Master’s applicants must present:
In addition to the general admission requirements for graduate programs at D’Youville, applicants to the master’s in occupational therapy must meet the required minimum criteria and must present the following:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, with minimum prerequisite grades of C (four-year institution) or B (two-year institution)
  • A letter of recommendation from an undergraduate faculty member or a healthcare professional with an advanced degree
  • A letter of intention
  • Scores from the GRE, MCAT, DAT, or VAT exams (if taken)
  • Prerequisites
    • Introduction to Biology I & II with lab, or Anatomy and Physiology I & II with lab
    • General Chemistry I & II with lab
    • Organic Chemistry I with lab
    • Organic Chemistry II or Biochemistry with lab
    • Introduction to English I & II
    • Applied Statistics (or biostatistics)
    • Genetics, or a biology course with substantial molecular biology and genetics content, with lab
    • Anatomy I & II (laboratories only)
